After starting the day at the Fernie hunt, who didn't go out due to frosty conditions, we received a tip off from an annoyed local that the Westerby bassets were hunting nearby. We zoomed straight over to their meet near Haselbech and arrived just as they were setting off. The huntsman took one look at the small group of sabs, swore profusely and put the bassets back in the hound van. We followed them back to the kennels and watched them feed the dogs, a sure sign that they wouldn't be hunting.
We then bombed it East to the Northants/Buckinghamshire border to join Northants Hunt Saboteurs at the Oakley hunt. They'd had a busy day and we were happy to give our colleagues a break and keep watch over these law breakers for the last hour of the day. We kept an eye on them as they headed back to their kennels and were interested to see the huntsman and whip quickly change clothes and mask up. Their pathetic attempts at intimidation didn't work and we headed back North happy with a very successful day.
It's ironic that the Countryside Alliance make such a fuss about sabs masking up but time and again we see the hunters doing it. Glass houses and stones etc.....
