Today we teamed up with good friends Northants Hunt Saboteurs andBeds & Bucks Hunt Sabs to sab the Cottesmore who met at the Barnsdale Lodge Hotel just North of Rutland water in Rutland.
Shortly after leaving the meet the hounds picked up a fox and chased it into a wood. The fox was literally in the midst of the pack of hounds but jinked its way past them and escaped down a badger sett. The hounds tried to dig down after it but Notts sabs were on hand to haul the houndsout and sit in the holes to protect the fox. They stayed there enjoying the sun for half an hour until the last of the hunt had left the scene whilst our comrades continue to follow the hounds.
When it was safe to leave we rejoined the action and soon saw the hunt on another fox but quick work by sabs again saved the day.
Shortly after this some old adversaries arrived at the scene. Sean Stacey (currently on bail for breach of the peace for abusing sabs) turned up with some masked up friends wielding sticks and throwing stones at our vehicles. Clever tactics by our teams meant we were still able to follow the hunt whilst avoiding vehicles full of masked up bully boys. The huntsman spent the rest of the day hiding in a big wood being closely monitored by sabs but he seemed to have given up and did little hunting. Several more foxes were watched carefully to safety by vigilant sabs.
This was the final meet of the season for the Cottesmore but we plan on giving them a lot of attention next season due to their blatant illegal hunting
